My self-care routine!
Hiya!
Welcome to this week's post! Today I want to share my relaxing self-care routine because we all need a day to just recharge and relax. You're more than welcome to follow along as you read!
a much-needed self-care day!
how I start my day
First I like to have a relaxing yet productive morning to start my self-care day. I like to wake up early or sleep in. I usually like waking up early, giving the dogs food, and make myself a delicious cup of coffee. Then I like to relax a bit and make my bed. After I make my bed, I'll eat breakfast - something healthy and delicious, then I'll take a shower.
hair
In the shower, I like to start with my hair. First I'll make sure my hair is thoroughly wet, then I switch off the water. The reason for that is because I hate wasting water whenever I don't need it so I switch it off when I put any product in my hair.
Next, I'll squirt a lot of shampoo in the palm of my hands and work it through my roots. I like to take time with this because my roots get oily fast and I've realized, the more you massage the shampoo into your roots, the better.
After shampooing I'll switch the water back on and rinse it off, thoroughly. Then I switch the water off and condition my hair. I take the conditioner and I don't like to condition my roots - only my tips for the best result! Next, I take my shower hairbrush and brush through my hair and rinse it off thoroughly.
After I dried my hair, very gently, I spray some anti-frizz spray and brush it through my hair to avoid it from frizzing while it dries.
body
After my hair is washed, I move on to my body. I like to scrub with a sponge and a moisturizing body wash!
After I'm done with my shower I move on to lotion. I use the same lotion I've been using for maybe more than a year now and I like to moisturize my legs and arms. My arms had these bumps because I never took care of my skin but after I used lotion daily, it made a huge difference!
skincare
Before I start with any skincare, I like to take my medication (vitamins) and things like my asthma pump + I like to brush my teeth before starting. Now that's all done, I start with a scrub. I like to scrub my nose and chin, then rinse it off.
Next, an exfoliating face wash. I also like to take time here and massage my face, which feels super refreshing, then I rinse it off.
Now I like to take some coconut oil and put it on my nose and because I have a mark on my chin, I put on lemon juice (it works great for acne scars and pimple scars!).
Next, my eyelashes! Vaseline is great for eyelash growth, so I make sure to put some on (it does work). And last but not least, some lip balm to moisturize my lips.
pedicure
After I've done my hair, body, and skincare routine, it's time for a pedicure! First of all, I get a few cotton pads and some nail polish remover to take of any nail polish I have on.
Then, I tap some warm water in the bath to soak my feet in. I like to soak my feet for about 5 minutes before working on my toenails so it's easier and it won't hurt as much because the nail is a bit softer.
Now, I'll take a nail file, with a pointed tip, to push my cuticles back and lift the corner of my toenails to avoid getting ingrown nails. I like to take time with this because I feel like it's the most important part of a pedicure to do!
Next, I'll cut my toenails, to about a length where I can still see enough white tip but also short enough. Then I'll scrub them with a nail brush and soap to clean them. Now I'll move on to my ankles - I like to scrub them with a foot scrub to soften them. I'm done! Now I'll dry them and move on to buffing them!
I have an amazing buffing kit, I really recommend getting one!
First off I file any sharp edges of the nails so it doesn't hook to anything - has this ever happened to you, where you cut your toenails and that annoying sharp edge just keep hooking on everything, haha? After, I'll buff them with a buffer and some powder so they don't fade. Then I like to paint my nails with whatever color I want!
When it comes to my nails, I just cut them and file them. Then after I like to moisturize with a hand and nail cream.I actually don't like painting my nails because, they never dry, it always smudges and chips off the next day and I don't really have the patience to let them dry, haha!
how I end my day
After I do everything, I like to have a very relaxing night, so I like to tap myself a warm bath with lots of bubble bath! While I'm taking a bath, I like to do a blackhead face-mask all over my face which always makes it feel super refreshing!
And that's everything I do in my self-care day! It's super relaxing and I always love having a day like this, especially on Sundays before the week starts! I think it's really important to take a day off and just take care of yourself and your mental health! Comment down below when is your favorite day to have a self-care day?
