Pack with me for a 3 week trip + tips for a long drive!
Hey!
Welcome back to this week's post! My parents decided to let my brother and I stay at my grandparents for 3 weeks because we haven't seen either of my grandparents from my mom's side or my dad's side for almost 2 years because of COVID-19 restrictions. I can't wait to see them, I'm so excited!
In this post, I'll be sharing things I do to help me save some space in my suitcase when I pack for a long holiday! + I'll be sharing tips I do and use to be comfortable when driving a long distance (we'll be driving 12 hours).
Also, I want to say - I'm so blessed to have all my grandmas and
grandpas and that they're healthy and safe! And, I'm incredibly grateful
to have them and to see them! <3
pack with me!
First up, clothes! I always folded my clothes but then I tried rolling them up and it saves a lot more space! I like to roll up my shirts, shorts and jeans + put my socks in my shoes to also save more space.
For shoes I turn them around so the top of the shoes are against the clothes, because the bottom of the shoes might make my clothes dirty. I don't really have jackets, only about 1 hoodie, because where I live it's always hot so whenever I pack my hoodie, I take it with me in the car.
I don't wear a lot of make-up but I do like to pack some essentials, just in case we go somewhere and I want to look nice. I have 2 bags for my make-up and brushes.
Next, jewelry! I don't wear a lot of jewelry, only a few rings and earrings but no necklaces so I don't have a lot of jewelry to pack but when I do, I pack it all in a small pouch.
Scrunchies, hair ties, hair clips, friendship bracelets and things like that I pack in a bag with my jewelry.
Toiletries - the most important! I have a separate travel bag for all my toiletries and I have a travel bottle for each product. I put my body and face wash, shampoo, conditioner, anti-frizz hairspray, and other products in travel bottles and the only things I don't use a travel bottle for is my medication and lotion.
Chargers and other miscellaneous things I just put at the front pocket of my suitcase.
tips for a long drive - how to be more comfortable!
wear a comfortable outfit
This is super important if you're going on a long drive. I like to wear a comfortable pair of jeans or leggings with a loose shirt.
For shoes, I like to wear running shoes or just regular everyday shoes that are easy to slip in and out of. I like to take my shoes off in the car so I always make sure my shoes are easy to take off and easy to put on - for when you climb out of the car.
Also, I have a little backpack with me in the car with some essentials and I like to put a hoodie in there too, just in case it gets cold - so make sure you always take a hoodie or some sort of jacket.
take a pillow and blanket with
I like to sleep in the car to make time go by faster, so I take my most comfortable pillow and blanket with me.
don't sit in one position for too long
If I sit in the same position for too long, my body gets sore so I make sure to move my legs a few times to stay comfortable.
bring a water and any type of drink or juice
I like to have a water and cool drink with me to drink whenever I'm thirsty. Cold water is the best! You can also buy some tea or coffee at a coffee shop.
have yummy snacks
This is probably the most important - snacks, haha! When you have good food, it makes the drive so much better, especially if you have motion sickness, like I used to. The best snacks for motion sickness (for me) were -
- cheese or mince puffs
- burgers (homemade)
- salty chips or crackers
- mints
- bubblegum
These are some great snacks for when you're feeling sick. Tip: eat something fulfilling before you drive, it makes the symptoms better! And, sometimes the smell of your car can make yourself feel worse, try changing the smell of the car (it worked for me!).
I've tried medication but it never really worked, and also when you're feeling a bit sick - don't make yourself stress, rather eat a mince puff or any snack, relax, take a sip of water and try going to sleep.
I always worked myself up whenever I felt bad, which made me feel worse, so remember, relax <3
