6 Tips To Stay Focused
Hi!
Welcome back to another post! Today I want to share my top 6 tips that help me stay focused and avoid distractions.
I'm really bad when it comes to focusing on a certain topic without getting distracted by watching YouTube videos or endlessly scrolling through Pinterest. It's a bad habit of mine to watch a YouTube video while doing something or to "take a break" and scroll through Pinterest and before I know it, half an hour has passed by and I got zero things done so I'm super excited to share some of the best things I do to help me stay focused on whatever I'm doing without going on the internet! Let's start!
6 things to do when you want to stay focused!
Before I do schoolwork or work on a project that requires my full attention, I switch off my internet. This way I won't get distracted by my notification sound and if I go on my phone, I can't do anything that requires Wi-Fi and I'll switch off my phone.
put your phone somewhere you can't reach it
If I'm tempted to save a few pins, after switching off the internet, I'll put my phone somewhere I won't be able to reach it. For instance, when I'm working at my desk, I'll put it on my dresser or bedside table, which I'll only reach if I get up from my desk.
plan out your day (to-do lists and schedules)
If you've read my previous posts, you'll know that I love ranting about to-do lists, planners, notebooks, and schedules and how they boost your productivity. Well, here I am again, telling you that planning out your day and making to-do lists will also help you stay more focused and productive lol! But seriously, scheduling your day can help you stay on track with things that you need to get done because you'll feel more motivated to do it and this has helped me a lot!
put distracting apps in a folder and hide it
Sometimes when I take a break from binge-watching YouTube Shorts or scrolling through Pinterest, I like to put all these apps in a folder and kind of "hide them" so when, out of habit, I swipe left, I'll see the apps aren't there and I'll remember that they're "hidden" somewhere which stops me from going on them.
try listening to music
My mom said when she was in school and had to study for a test, she always listened to music while doing it because it made her focus more. If you're having trouble focusing, try listening to music and see if that works. For me, it depends on how I'm feeling, and if the music is good, then this will definitely help me focus more.
the pomodoro technique
The Pomodoro method is a timing technique that lasts for 25 minutes and a 5-minute break. I've realized that working for shorter periods of time always helps me get more done. Instead of giving myself an hour to focus on something and a 5 minutes break, I'd much rather do plenty of 25-minute rounds to complete a task.
And those are all the things I do when I want to stay more focused and free from distractions! They're helpful and have saved me many times when it comes to getting things done and completing my to-do list.
