Breakfast Scones
Hiya!
Welcome back to this week's post! Today I want to share one of my favorite recipes--Breakfast Scones! They're easy to make and delicious!
When my mom worked at a dental clinic, the reception lady would always bring these delicious scones to work for her birthday and my mom loved them so much, she decided to get the recipe from the lady and it's the only scones recipe my mom and I will ever make! Let's start!
easy breakfast scones
ingredients
3 cups flour
6 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
1 1/4 cup milk
method
Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease an oven pan.
In a large mixing bowl, sift flour, salt, and baking powder.
Add butter and mix with fingers till crumbly mixture.
Add milk and knead the dough with hands till clay-like mixture and work gently. Spread flour on a flat surface and roll out dough to about 1 cm thick.
Now, take a small to medium-sized cookie cutter and try to get out as many circles as you can. Put the leftover dough together and roll out again till about 1 cm thick, then take a cookie cutter and try to get out as many scones as you can.
Keep doing this until there's a small piece of dough left or none at all.
Place all pieces of dough onto the oven pan and bake the scones for about 10-15 minutes. Add toppings of your choice and enjoy!
notes
What I really like about this recipe is, you can add any toppings you like--sweet or savory because the scones have a pretty neutral taste so you can go crazy with toppings.
Toppings I recommend are:
- Jam
I love apricot and strawberry jam on anything, especially these scones!
- Bovril or Marmite
My favorite out of these two is the Bovril because it has more of a salty taste to it than Marmite. Bovril and butter is my favorite savory choice for scones!

- Cheese
Finely grated cheese with jam or Bovril is a delicious combination.
This is an awesome recipe to make for breakfast, not to mention how good it is with a cup of Rooibos tea! My mouth is watering! The texture of the scones is also perfect, with the way it melts in your mouth and how soft it is. Definitely a favorite!
