How To Make A Graduation Box For Yourself
Hiya!
Welcome back to this week's post! This blog post is all about graduating high school and how you can make the experience extra special! Today I want to show you guys how you can make a box for your future self, that you're only allowed to open after graduating from school.
I got this idea when my mom gave me a hatbox. She received a beautiful gift in the hatbox but didn't have a use for the hatbox itself so she gave it to me because she knows I love things like that.
Anyway, it was standing on my dresser for a few days because I was brainstorming what I could fill it with and then I got the best idea! Why not make it a graduation box for the day I graduate? And it has one rule, I'm not allowed to open it until the day I graduate!
So, today I'm going to show you how to make such a graduation box plus a list of things you could fill it with! Let's start!
graduation box for your future self 🎓
Before we start, I want to give a side note: put everything in envelopes so when you open the box to keep adding things, you won't see what's already in the box, just a bunch of envelopes. It also helps if all the envelopes are the same design, then you'll have no idea what's in the box as time goes on.
Something you could do for a bonus is add money in every few envelopes to surprise yourself.
1. get a box of some sort
Any box will work! A shoe box, cardboard box or a hatbox! Or anything that is a box. It must have enough space for you to fill it with things over time. Then decorate the box if necessary, paint it, stick it with scrapbook supplies or anything you want!
My hatbox didn't need any decorating so I skipped this step.
2. start filling it!
The second step is the most fun! Here's a list of things you could fill it with:
future letters to yourself
Write a bunch of letters to yourself about where you are in life, how things are in school, who your favorite teacher is, and your achievements in school. You could write anything you want in these letters!
Side note: make sure to write the date on the letters!
graduating advice
Google advice for people that graduate, write it down and tie it with a ribbon! This could come in handy when you're done with school and while planning your next step. Throw in some quotes in the pile, as well as advice from yourself that you think will help your future self!
photos of achievements relating to school
Take photos of all your achievements relating to your schoolwork, like getting an A on your Math test, then print these photos. I think your future self will have the sweetest reaction when seeing the photos of your achievements!
a questionnaire that both you and your future self can answer
Think of as many fun questions as you can and write them all down, then answer all of them! Make sure to leave a space open for your future self to answer it as well. Then when you graduate you can see the difference in the amount of time you started the box and when you graduated.
"congrats on graduating" card
Make a beautiful card for yourself to open when you graduate, that congratulates you on finishing high school! This could be so special for your future self to open.
I'm super excited for how my graduation box will turn out! Another tip, write a number on each envelope to know which one to open first, then second, and third and so on plus I'm writing the date on the back of the envelope as well.
I can only imagine how cool and exciting it's going to be to open this box once I complete my GED and am officially done with high school. I also don't really know when I'm going to graduate since everyone works at their own pace with GED, in the year you must complete it, and I don't know how fast my pace is yet, but I may start some time next year, so I'll probably get to open the box in about 1 - 2 years, which is over enough time to fill it with things.
When I got this idea, I thought to myself, if I'm supposed to keep it closed until the day I graduate, how can I keep adding things to the box without spoiling what's already inside it and I realized I can put most of the things in envelopes. Later on the box will just have a bunch of envelopes instead of ruining the surprises inside it.
If you want to add objects to the box, try putting them in a smaller box that would fit inside of your main one or wrap them with something. In the end, try to cover everything that goes inside the box so when you keep adding things, you won't see the rest!
That's it for this post! I hope you enjoyed it and that it inspires you to make your own graduation box! I enjoyed typing this blog post and sharing my idea with you guys and I'm super excited to open it when I graduate. Maybe I'll do a blog post on it!
Thanks for reading this week's post! Comment down below what type of box you're using or tell me when you're graduating Have a wonderful week further! Stay safe!
