"a christmas recipe" | Christmas Poetry Collection: Poem 7
two and one-fourth cups
unconditional love for the
family and friends that gather around
half a teaspoon
Christmas sugar cookies
three-fourths cup
jokes from the uncle
everyone can’t wait to see
one-fourth teaspoon
gifts shared when
Secret Santa is revealed
a half cup
of hugs from people you
haven’t seen all year
one large table
for all to sit and eat together
two teaspoons sunscreen
for December’s weather
for the frosting:
one-fourth cup
houses made of gingerbread
one and a half cup
ornaments of
green and yellow and red
three tablespoons
of jingle bells in Christmas songs
one teaspoon
gratitude for my
family, food, a home
— place where I belong
method:
make sure measurements are heaped with love and laughter. optionally, recipe can include a few funky dance moves.
enjoy all month long!

about the poem
You know those cute quotes that hang in your grandma's house — the "recipe" where the ingredients are replaced with themes of family, warmth, love, and friendship? I think they're quite creative and fun and I wanted to write a little recipe of my own with all the Christmas vibes!
Only two poems left in the collection!
