"christmas tree" | Christmas Poetry Collection: Poem 4
Ornaments
gold, red, and silver
They hang like little
pieces of treasure
on our tree in the
living room’s corner
Twinkling lights
like little pieces of glitter
shining in the skies of
snowy December nights
Golden star
at the top of the tree
decorated by the kids
as mom is sipping tea
Presents
placed by Santa Clause
carried on his sleigh
though I can't imagine him
fitting in our chimney
Christmas tree,
only made of pine
yet, I think it is much more
Because a Christmas tree also sees the
gifts we sneak in from the store
It only stands in the corner
but appears in every memory
because a Christmas tree is not only
made of pine
but made of love, laughter, hugs, and the time we
spend together as family

about the poem
A Christmas tree is the heart of the holidays. It is made of pine and then decorated with various ornaments and strings and lights, and of course the big golden star that sits at the top.
Yet, when you think about it, a Christmas tree sees everything that happens over December, even in November for those that like to start decorating early.
And I wanted to make it the central theme for this poem, that the tree is much more than a tree.
