Day in My Life as a Homeschooled Teen
Hi everyone!
This week I wanted to post something about homeschooling, and so I thought I could do a day in my life as a homeschooler. Also, prepare yourself for a long post because when I start talking about homeschooling, I'll never stop, haha.
I always love watching homeschool routines and see how relaxed every homeschooler is. My day as a homeschooler is super relaxed; the last time I stressed about something was 3 years ago (when I was still in school).
My 24 hours as a homeschooler <3
My morning routine
This first thing I do before school is my morning routine. I have a post on that, so if you want to see how I start my day, here you go ~ My Morning Routine
Write what work I need to do in planner
I love having a planner and writing down what work I need to do for the day, because that way I feel more organized. Sometimes I write what I have to do the day before and sometimes I do it in the middle of school but now I like to write it down before school.
Start with school ~ Math
First up ~ Math. In school Math was one of my worst subjects and I constantly got low grades, until my mom decided to help me study and we sat that whole afternoon studying for the upcoming Math test. I wrote the test the next day and within a week I got my results back; my results went from 50% to 70%!
That's also part of the reason why I started homeschooling. Ever since I started homeschooling, my Math has improved so much!
Second subject ~ English
After I did about an hour of Math I like to do English. For English I type my posts for my blog. Typing my blog posts is a great way to improve my English + how I type.
Next up ~ History
I just finished doing a project/essay on World War I and right now I'm busy doing World War II. I enjoy History a lot these days :)
Chemistry (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays)
I thought, how am I going to study Chemistry with all the elements, protons, neutrons, electrons and the periodic table (how am I going to study that?!). But once I got the hang of it, it's easy and understandable.
One of my friends couldn't believe I started Chemistry last year, when they only started learning it this year, haha.
Also, I do Chemistry only Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays otherwise I'll have 9 subjects to do everyday (I'll explain a bit more in a while).
Civics + Government (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
For civics and government I do the different types of government and the history of the US government, like, The Declaration of Independence. And like all my other subjects, I love learning the history of America's government.
This subject I do every Tuesday and Thursday so I don't have too much work to do everyday and stress myself out. That's why I do Chemistry and civics + government on different days.
Next up ~ Geography
Now, it's time for geography. I never used to like Geography in school because they kept focusing on one country but since I started homeschooling I learned what I wanted to and did a bunch of geography quizzes on where every country is in the world.
Now, I know much more than I ever could in school and I know where almost every country is in the world, and I'm so proud of myself! :)
Eighth subject ~ Economics
Oh my gosh! I can't even begin on how much I hated Economics when I started homeschooling. But, you guessed it, now I kind of love it, haha.
I started learning The Great Depression about a few days ago and I am currently doing an essay about it.
Natural Science (NS)
For NS I am doing Astronomy! I've always found the galaxy so fascinating and I love learning more about it. It's mind blowing how amazing it is so I love learning Astronomy.
I actually did a solar system project 2-3 years ago when I did an essay on the solar system.
Last subject ~ Biology
I love learning Biology. Some days I consider becoming a doctor but my dream for cooking is what I want to do. About a week ago, I finished my essay on anorexia and I'm currently busy with bulimia because both of these eating disorders are so interesting to me and I love learning more about them.
This is the thing with homeschooling - I would've never learned this in school and I would've probably learned something I don't like.
this is the folder i put all my work in. i have a plastic file for each subject with the name written on the top right corner, and i have an inspirational quote to keep me going.
My experience with homeschooling has been the best and I'm not going to lie ~ it's so much better than school. I do miss my friends and teacher so much ! but homeschooling has taught me how I can be on my own and keep myself busy when I'm bored when some people can't.
It also taught me how do be more independent and I can't wait to start my cooking career. Homeschooling is the best ever and when I was school, I used to bite my nails because of stress but now my nails are long and I'm not ashamed of them anymore.
The most important thing homeschooling has taught me is ~ self love <3. I've learned that I'm perfect just the way I am and I love myself more than ever I did.
I also believed that I was dumb in school because of my low grades and that all the "popular" children were getting high academic marks and awards. That's why I never loved myself but now I know that I'm not dumb; I'm smart, and I should never doubt myself.
Note: You are perfect, just the way you are! <3

we didn't have enough balls to paint so we had to use a ping-pong ball and make one out of paper-mache, haha, but it was totally worth it !

Hi
ReplyDeleteI've read your post concerning homeschooling and found it excellent. Your presentation of the whole concept was very good summerised. Congratulation with your great inputs.
It is very clear that homeschooling on it's own is a much sophisticated system and the subjects are sรณ relevant and of a high standard. It is further eminently based on the academic value.
The more you spend time on the academic side, other than the social part, the better for your future. My opion: No other system can get even with homeschooling per se.
Thank you very much again for your presentation and perspective it gave me. Everything is much more clearer now and highly regarded by me.
Whising you only the best in your studies for the future.
Bye
Thank you very much!
